EUROPEAN MASONIC ASSOCIATION VISIT

On Thursday 26th April, Lodge Albert 448 played host to visit from the European Masonic Association, (EMA).  The EMA is a group of Masons, wives and widows that get together annually to visit other Countries in Europe and to visit other Lodges.

Lodge Albert was very pleased that they had chosen to visit our Lodge on the occasion of their visit to Dundee, Scotland. Our thanks goes to PM Bro. Alex Marr of Lodge Ancient #49 for his organisation of the event.

There were 45 visitors and each one received a Certificate commemorating the Occasion. Thanks to Bro. Bob McClafferty for producing the Certificates!

The Ring!

Lodge Albert 448 also took the Opportunity to raffle a Masonic Ring to raise funds for Charity.

The raffle realised £500!

£250 Cheques were presented to Mr Ian Babbe of Asbestos Action (Tayside) and to Mrs Doreen Munro of Alzheimer's Scotland (Angus Branch). Thanks to Bro Bob McLafferty and Bro Ian Munro, PM for putting us in touch with these deserving causes.

The Ring was won by the RWM's son, (he's J.D.), but realising the purpose of the Raffle, he kindly returned it and the eventual winner was a Brother Gordon Reeves of Lodge New Rippon Falls, #8833, of West Kent, England. So the Ring is well and truly on it's journey and I'm assured that it is to be Raffled again very soon at a gala event - so here's hoping it continues to raise lots of money for Charity for a long time to come!

Well done to all involved!

The Fellowship of the Ring

The Story of this Masonic Ring began as a prize in an Internet competition when it was won
by the Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Albert, 448, Dundee on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland,
Brother Peter Taylor. The competition involved introducing members to a Masonic message forum, www.novusordosaeculorum.com, which is based in Tokyo, Japan.

The support of the Masonic Internet Community is greatly appreciated!

The Ring was raffled for the first time in Lodge Albert, 448 on the 26th April 2007, following the visit of the European Masonic Association and raised much needed funds for Charity. The hope is that the winner will continue to offer the Ring for raffle in his Mother Lodge, again to raise funds for Charity.

The reverse of this Certificate contains the continuing History of the Ring. It is also hoped that Lodges that hold the Ring for a time will inform those other Lodges of its journey and its new temporary Home, thereby further enhancing the bonds of our Beloved Fraternity.

The winner is, of course, entitled to keep it and wear it if he so chooses.
